Dr. Kate Payne

Dr. Kate Payne was born and raised in Liverpool, England and graduated from the University of Leeds in England, UK in 2006, working as a junior doctor in hospital before qualifying as a General Practitioner in 2013 (MRCGP). Dr. Payne has a full practice with interest in all facets of family practice with special interest in pediatrics and geriatrics.
She moved to Canada with her husband and 3 young children in 2019 and hasn’t looked back! She lives on the North Shore and enjoys everything that this beautiful place has to offer, especially skiing in the winter and the beaches in the summer.
It was always a dream of hers to open her own clinic. She is motivated by the potential of doctors working together in advocating for patients and supporting each other in team. She and her husband John are working together to make sure Symphony Health provides the best possible primary care alongside a warm and welcoming environment.
Dr. Heloise Williams

Dr. Heloise Williams graduated from the University of Pretoria,South Africa in Family medicine in 2004 and moved to Canada in 2006. She holds a DipObs(SA)(2005) and a Diploma in Travel Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Of Glasgow (2010). She has worked extensively in rural family and emergency medicine, Critical Care and now longitudinal family Practice.
Her special interests include paediatrics, women’s health and Travel and Tropical medicine. She strongly believes in preventative health and loves to get to know her patients, their families and their life stories.
Dr Williams is an avid traveler and is at her happiest exploring the world with her family. She enjoys hiking, skiing, spending time outdoors with her young kids and is proud to call the North Shore her home.
Dr. Maggie Tyau

Dr. Maggie Tyau attended medical school in England and graduated with honours from the University of Liverpool in 2014. She qualified as a General Practitioner in 2019 (MRCGP).
She has lived in London, UK for the last three years, working as both a salaried and locum GP. Her clinical interests include women’s health and dermatology. She has recently completed the Cardiff University Postgraduate Diploma in Practical Dermatology (PGDip) and is working on developing skills in dermoscopy and minor surgery.

Dr. Tyau was born and raised on the North Shore and is excited to begin to practice with Symphony Health near her roots. She is a believer in physical activity as a key part of health and wellbeing and loves home and gym workouts, bicycle commuting, and rollerskating.

Dr. Margaret Thompson graduated from University of Glasgow in 1999 and qualified as a General Practitioner in 2003. Since then, she has worked as an NHS GP – being blessed to work beside both her Mum and brother. She loves family medicine, finding it both stimulating and rewarding caring for people of all ages and conditions.
Her clinical interests include Sports Medicine and she and her brother John are team doctors for the professional ice hockey team, Glasgow Clan (Scotland). In addition she is an experienced medical educator, working as a University of Glasgow Medical School Tutor and a GP Supervisor to doctors completing their FP Residency.
She loves BC and is really looking forward to being part of the exciting team at Symphony Health MD. Out of work, Margaret is a keen violinist, average snowboarder, dog Mom and slightly wacky Scots lass!
Dr. John Thompson

Dr. John Thompson graduated from University of Glasgow in 2001, qualifying as a General Practitioner in 2005. Subsequently, he has loved working alongside his mum who was a Nurse Practitioner, and in recent years, his GP sister, Margaret. John enjoys getting to know people and strongly believes in the fantastic potential Primary Care has to provide holistic patient-centred care.
His role alongside his sister as team physicians for Glasgow Clan EIHL professional ice hockey team has developed his interest in Sports Medicine. He is also passionate about medical education, for many years teaching at University of Glasgow Medical School and being an Educational Supervisor for family medicine residents.
John can’t wait to join the Symphony Health MD team and settle in the North Shore. He loves playing violin and piano, snowboarding, tennis, his dogs, hockey, and considers he and his sister are just “twins separated in time”.
Dr. Joono Kim
Dr. Joono Kim
Md, CCFP
Dr. Joono Kim graduated from Saba University School of Medicine in 2020 and completed his residency training in Family Medicine in Winter Park, Florida in 2023. After completion of his training, he attained his board certification with the American Board of Family Physicians and subsequently moved back home to British Columbia to begin his career as a family physician.
His clinical interests include full spectrum family medicine with an emphasis on the prevention of chronic disease through a healthy and balanced lifestyle, as well as sports medicine and minor in-office dermatologic procedures.
Born and raised on the North Shore, Dr. Kim is excited to have returned home and is looking forward to building his practice with Symphony Health. He enjoys living an active lifestyle and his free time is spent snowboarding, playing guitar, hiking, camping, playing tennis, squash, golf, and rock-climbing.

Kim Smith
Kim Smith
Office Manager
Kim was born and raised in British Columbia and resides in North Vancouver. She has been working in health care for over 20 years. Her career started in the veterinary industry and eventually changed to family medicine and speciality practices.
When Kim is not in the clinic you will find her at the gym, cycling, or exploring the North Shore mountains. Kim loves spending time with her friends, family and her 3 cats. Her other interested include caring for and volunteering with her disabled cat and working with homeless animals.
John Payne

John has worked in business and organisation management for the last 20 years, most recently starting and pastoring a large church in Harrogate in the UK.
He moved to Vancouver in 2019 with his wife, Dr. Kate Payne and their three children. In large response to the primary care crisis in British Columbia, they realised a long held vision by launching ‘Symphony Health’ together. John is motivated by the idea of creating a compassionate and welcoming environment for patients. He is also keen to create a space where Doctors and Office staff work together as a team.
